Privacy & Terms
How we handle personal data, and the terms on which this website is provided.
Privacy
The short version
This website collects nothing about you. There are no forms, no accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels, no embedded third-party content and no requests to any other company’s servers. Every file that makes up this page is served from this domain. If you never email us, we hold nothing about you beyond the server log described below.
The one exception: server logs
This site is served by a hosting provider, and like every web server theirs keeps a short technical log of requests — typically the IP address, the time, the page requested and the browser used. We do not use those logs to identify visitors, we do not combine them with anything else, and there is no analytics layer on top of them. They exist because a web server cannot serve a page without receiving a request. We mention it because “we collect nothing” would otherwise be very slightly more than the truth, and this is not a page on which we intend to be slightly more than the truth.
If you email us
The only way this site invites contact is a plain email address. If you write to us, we hold what you choose to send — typically your name, your email address, and whatever you tell us about your matter.
We use it for one purpose: to answer you, and to decide whether your matter is something Virelis can take on. We do not use it for marketing, we do not build a mailing list, and we do not sell, rent or share it.
Please do not send case data, wallet lists, evidence or anything confidential in a first email. Describe the matter in outline. If we go further, we will agree in writing how material should be transferred and how it will be handled.
Lawful basis
Where you contact us about possible work, we process your message on the basis of our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries about our services (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Where we go on to act for you, we process it to perform a contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)).
Where it is held
Correspondence reaches us through our email provider, Proton Mail, which is operated by Proton AG in Switzerland. Beyond that, Virelis processes work on hardware we control. We do not upload client material to third-party analysis platforms or general-purpose cloud services. That is an architectural decision, and it is the reason chain-of-custody questions about our work have a short answer.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become work are deleted within twelve months. Where we are instructed, we keep the file for as long as the matter requires and for a reasonable period afterwards, reflecting that our work may need to be relied on or revisited in legal proceedings.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable form. These rights are qualified rather than absolute — for example, material forming part of evidence in live or contemplated legal proceedings may need to be retained.
To exercise any of them, email hellovirelis@pm.me. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you raised it with us first.
Terms
About this website
This site describes services offered by Virelis Forensics. It is published for information. Nothing on it is advice — legal, financial, investment or otherwise — and nothing on it should be relied on in making a decision about any specific matter.
Contacting us does not create an engagement
An email, an enquiry or a conversation does not create a client relationship and does not place us under any obligation to act. Work is taken case by case, and only once scope, terms and fees have been agreed in writing. Until then, please do not treat anything we say as a commitment, and do not send material you would not want an uninstructed third party to hold.
Illustrations
The figures, addresses and reconciliation shown on the home page are illustrative and synthetic. They are labelled as such on the page. They do not describe any real account, any real transaction or any real client matter, and the addresses shown are deliberately not valid.
Our material
The content, design, wording and marks on this site belong to Virelis Forensics. You may read it, quote it fairly with attribution, and share the link. Please do not reproduce it as your own or use our name or crest to suggest an association that does not exist.
Availability and liability
We take care to keep this site accurate and available, but we do not guarantee either. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for loss arising from use of, or reliance on, this website. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
Changes. If we change this page we will update the date at the top. Where a change is significant, we will say what changed rather than quietly replace the text — the same standard we apply to our own findings.
